Weekend Getaway

Weekend Getaway

A Fun Weekend Getaway to Hard Rock Hotel & Casino

Me and my honey, Joe, had a chance to slip away for one night away recently.  Isn’t just great when all the planets align and you get some time for just the two of you?  I made a New Year’s resolution to plan something fun for us to do at least one time per month and I am really trying to keep up with that.  And let me tell you, the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, is a FUN place for a quick weekend getaway!

Let’s Check All the Boxes for Fun

The Hard Rock weekend getaway checks a lot of boxes for fun:   Awesome resort pool and bar/restaurant, check!  Lots of dining options, check!  Top notch entertainment, check!  Cool hotel rooms and suites, check!  (They don’t say “Sleep like a rock star” for nothing!)  Lots of options to spend lots of bank!  (Insert teeth clenched emoji here!)  Plus, living in casual SoFl where you can wear “dressy” flip flops, I am super happy to get the chance to dress up because at the Hard Rock anything goes!  More sparkles – More fun!  Ooh, and of course great company to hang with. (Love you, Joey!)

Adventurous Dining & Cocktails

We arrived late in the afternoon and had time for cocktails and dinner before our show.  Drinks at L Bar near the hotel lobby.  Dinner at Kuro – by far the coolest restaurant at the Hard Rock Hotel.  It’s Japanese and sushi – but way inventive and most of the dishes are meant to be shared.  Our favorite dishes (besides the sushi) are the sea bass and the Wagyu beef.  Cocktails are super hip and are based around the five tastes – sweet, salty, bitter, sour and umami.  I tried the “Shi” – it was pretty sweet and pretty good.  You can definitely challenge your taste buds and be very adventurous!

Live Entertainment & GOT

We had to tickets to see Trevor Noah, host of The Daily Show, do his stand-up comedy routine.  He is one of Joe’s favorite comedians and his show was very topical and funny.  And he talks with that awesome South African accent.  Late night we played a little blackjack and some slot machines.  We found a fun Game of Thrones machine that had to be 10 feet tall – what makes it fun is when you win extra play for the special games.  But hey, I will really try anything related to GOT – I am such a fan girl!  Khaleesi you are my idol.

Room Service, Please!

Of course, no weekend getaway is complete without sleeping in and ordering room service for breakfast!  The coffee and food was great.  I mean seriously, anytime someone else cooks for me and serves me breakfast while I am still in my pj’s?  That’s a win.  Your only other breakfast options at Hard Rock are Constant Grind – a coffee and pastry shop or Blue Plate, a sit-down diner type of restaurant.  (And I prefer the room service food over Blue Plate.)

Planning Our Next Weekend Getaway

With a late checkout of 3pm we had time to hit the pool before heading home.  On a late Sunday morning the pool was empty and we enjoyed some time just hanging on the lounge chairs and talking about what the next week would bring.  We were recharged from our mini weekend getaway and talked about planning another one real soon!

Things to know about the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino before you go:

It’s great for adults and kids alike.  The pool has a fun slide and they play classic “Hard Rock” music through underwater speakers.

There are a number of dining options inside the hotel, Hard Rock Cafe being one of them.  Council Oaks has excellent food and steaks but the vibe is a little stuffy for me.  Reservations are a must at Kuro and Council Oaks.

Definitely get tickets to see a show there.  The Hard Rock Event Center just underwent renovations and only seats 3,500 – so you know almost all the seats are good.  Kid Rock and Jerry Seinfeld recently played there.

The king suites are great – especially the CBGB and Luxury King Suites.  We’ve had the opportunity of staying here probably over a dozen or so times and we’ve stayed in all the room types.  I love the mood lighting!

Shopping inside the hotel is pretty pricey but if you need an iconic Hard Rock souvenir, they are priced reasonably.

The Rock Spa is nice – I’ve had massages and my nails done.  Expect resort-type prices here too.

The Seminoles are building a new 800-room hotel shaped like a guitar!  And are rebuilding the shopping and dining options that was once “Seminole Paradise” connected to the back of the hotel.
